Cruise Fever is upon us again and it great to see so many big liners into Cobh again this year. My little Cruise stall was set up at the Summer Swing in the middle of the food and craft stalls and it was great to chat to people. Cobh people certainly love to talk about cruises and its nice to share the knowledge with other customers.

I had the privilege of bringing 10 guests on board the Celebrity Eclipse for a tour and lunch when it visited Cobh a few weeks ago and we were all very impressed.  She is truly a beautiful ship and built to a very high and environmentally friendly standard. There are multiple dining options and numerous bars to wet the appetite.  The swimming pool area is lovely with comfortable loungers and they even provide blankets for the Irish climate !

As well as the bars and restaurants which were too many to count we visited the Eclipse Theatre where big production shows are put on twice a night. There is also a casino, gift shops, library, art gallery, gymnasium, health spa, beauticians and hairdressers. We  also visited the Kids Zone where kids of all ages are entertained with arts and crafts and games. The older kids have Wii and internet.

We were served a beautiful 4 course lunch  and for the people who hadn’t ever been on a cruise ship before it gave them a small taste of the fantastic service and the value for money you get when you go on a cruise. We rolled off the ship at around 2 pm with our bellies full and sad that we couldn’t be sailing away on her there and then.

Cruises are one of the biggest growth areas in the Travel industry at present and the prices are coming down all the time. We have last minute deals in June for 7 nt Med from € 449 pp ex Malaga. There are 13 nt Eastern Med on Celebrity for € 770 pp in September. Prices include all food, entertainment and tips. Flights are extra but can be added on with one of the low cost airlines.

I have been on so many ships for day visits or been on cruises myself both with and without the family and I genuinely think it is the way to travel and see the world without having to take lots of flights or worry about where to eat that night or what will entertain us – Cruising is by far a luxury holiday at an affordable price!
