At EARLY YEARS EDUCATIONAL CENTRE in BALLYWILLIAM this year, the children forfeited their usual Summer Outing and in its place they were treated to a Summer Fair.

The Fair was run as a fundraiser for Cobh Playground Funding.

The whole centre was transformed into a haven for the children which included; A Workshop: Salon: Play Zone: Cafe & Cinema.

Inside the workshop the children were busy creating personalised place mats and jewellery. They also decorated biscuits which they later ate in the Cafe along with some other treats. The Salon was a very busy place that day. Girls had their finger and toe nails polished; their hair styled and their faces painted. Boys had their choice of tattoos applied; had their hair styled and also had their faces painted. For many of the children this was their favourite room of the day.

In the Play Zone they had a choice of the Bouncy Castle or the Slide and Ball Pond or both if they wished. Leaving the Play Zone, the children were ready for a rest so it was off to the Cinema where they had their choice of movie. As always, this year in EARLY YEARS, when the children were given a movie choice there was one only that would win out “Frozen” and so it was this time too; in the middle of summer !!

The highlight of the Summer Fair had to have been The Fire Engine. It came to visit during the morning and each child was given the opportunity of exploring it. The children so enjoyed The Fire Engine !!

Within the centre also, we opened our Summer Market. On sale were crafts the children, themselves, had made over the previous three months and parents and friends of the children had the opportunity of purchasing whatever they wished. We also held a raffle which was a great success and for which I would like to thank all who donated prizes.

All children were asked to make a donation of €5 to be a part of the Summer Fair and this money plus the monies from the Summer Market and Raffle would be given to Cobh Playground Funding as a contribution from EARLY YEARS to what we see as a much needed; long awaited project.

In total we raised €700 which was presented to Gerard Maher at EARLY YEARS on Wednesday 24th June.

A sincere thank you to all who donated; parents and friends of our Playgroup: Junior Pre School: Senior Pre School: Naionra & After School Club.
