Club members are as busy as ever in July and recent weeks has seen members involved in Triathlon National Series in Sligo, taking to the River Lee, triathlons in Carrick on Suir and Aquathons in Fermoy. Saturday the 11th of July was the Lee Swim. Brave swimmers took the plunge into the Lee’s north channel near the Old Distillery Yard at the end of the North Mall and swam 1,700 metres downstream towards the Port of Cork where the river’s two channels meet, then turn back and swim the final 300 metres to the finish near Lapps Quay by the Clarion Hotel Cork. It’s one of the most unique ways to see the city.
On Wednesday the 15th of July club members demonstrated their swim and run skills in the Aquathon organised by the Blackwater Triathlon Club of Fermoy. A 750m swim by Fermoy Rowing Club was followed by a 6 km run. Fast times all round by Cobh members.
On the Triathlon front members completed in Carrick on Suir for a river based event, travelled to historic Lissadell House in Sligo for the National Series and took place in Lough Derg Sprint event.
