The Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN) are urging locals to join a planned march and rally this coming Sunday in Dublin to protest the out of control cruelty cases that appear to be increasing here and around the country. The event hopes to draw people from every corner of the country to urge the Irish legal system to increase fines and jail for those convicted of cruelty to animals in accordance with the Animal Health and Welfare Act (2013) and for the government to bring about an end to badger culling, fur farming, animals incircuses, hare coursing and much more.

WHEN: Sunday, September 27, 2pm sharp to 4.30pm
WHERE: Garden of Remembrance, O’Connell Street, Dublin 1

ARAN urges people who care about animals to take this special opportunity to hit the capital to call for stiff penalties and jail time for those convicted of cruelty to animals and for the government to outlaw some of the most egregious practices still allowed in Ireland,² said ARAN’s John Carmody. ³ARAN warns animal lovers who want to see an end to cruelty to animals to know that as long as apathy exists we fear this cruelty will have a long future ahead, so please move heaven and earth to be in Dublin this coming Sunday for just two hours.²

Recently a man was convicted of smashing his dog’s head off the ground up to 30 times and was given a paltry 200-hour community service. A farmer was convicted of cruelty to pigs and had his sentenced reduced from 18 months to 12.
