Cobh Tourism promoted all that Cobh, Great Island and Cork Harbour has to offer the visitor and tourist at ‘Holiday World Dublin’ on the weekend of 22nd to 24th January 2016. Although the stand was a collaboration with the Commodore Hotel and Cobh Heritage Centre, all members of Cobh Tourism were promoted and will benefit from the positive message that Cobh is a great place to visit.

Cobh Tourism Board members Jack Walsh, Ursula Duffy, Jim O’Rourke and Belinda Shaw were joined by Robert Fitzpatrick of the Commodore Hotel. Meeting the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring, the editor of Travel Extra Eoghan Corry and the American Ambassador Kevin O’Malley will engender a positive sentiment towards Cobh. Each were presented with a Cobh Tidy Towns Calendar as a reminder that a visit to Cobh is special at any time of the year.

Top of the list of enquiries this year was from campervan holidaymakers, followed by enquiries about Spike Island and getting on the water with Cork Harbour Boat Hire. Interestingly lack of water, power and sewage disposal for camper vans is not seen as a major drawback. The Cobh camper van park is widely known as a superb location and the closeness to the town, choice of great restaurants, the train to Cork and the security of the Garda station are all seen as huge advantages.

Holiday World Dublin 2016 has proved to be an extremely valuable exercise in marketing Cobh, but it is just the first action in the Cobh Tourism Marketing Plan for 2016.
