Cobh Municipal District is pleased to announce a Streetscape Paint Scheme, whereby a fund of €25,000 has been allocated to assist with the cost of painting the front façade of buildings in designated areas of Cobh Town Centre subject to the terms and conditions of the Scheme.
The painting and maintenance of the façade of buildings is an essential element of the presentation of any tourist town. As an owner/occupier in this designated area you are hereby invited to apply to participate in the scheme. The Scheme is applicable to both commercial units and private residences in the areas involved.
Cork County Council is committed to the regeneration of the town centre and this scheme is designed to not only help to clean up the streetscape as seen from close up but also as viewed from the sea. It is important to differentiate our town as a unique and colourful vista that will be photographed and shared and for that reason alone, a very specific palette of bold colours has been chosen.
For 2016, incentives will only be available for colours listed on the approved palette. In an overall planned painting scheme there is nothing wrong in some buildings being painted in cream, beige and pastel tones. However Cobh already has an excess of these colours and this scheme will specifically address this issue in the first year of its operation
In 2016 the scheme is limited to the property façades facing the street at the following locations: (1) The Rock & Lower Midleton Street south of The Rock; (2) East Beach; (3) Westbourne Place; (4)Harbour Row; (5) West Beach; (6) Casement Square; (7) Pearse Square
Applications are invited from owners and occupiers (with the consent of the owner/s) to be submitted by Friday 3 June 2016. Quotations must be fully inclusive and itemise cost, colour of paint and costs of labour and any other require¬ments such as height access hire etc.
Full details of the scheme, including closing dates and the full colour palette, are available from the offices of the Cobh Municipal District, Carrig House, Cobh (Tel. 021 4811307).
