Sat. 20th Aug: A huge well done to club registrar and native Berliner Heike Von Heyne who recently completed the 3rd Berliner Vollmond Marathon.
Always one to encourage others, we were all delighted to see Heike successfully complete her second marathon.
Brilliant stuff, Heike.

Thur. 25th Aug: Ballymore Cobh A.C. had a whopping 23 participants at the recent Ballycotton 5 Mile Race, many of whom completed all 4 races in the series and received plaques for their efforts.

Sun. 28th Aug: An 8-strong crew took part in the Clonakilty 10 Mile Race organised by the Clonakilty Road Runners club.
Well done to Karen Geasley, Katherine Farrell, Lisa Whelan, Una French, Stephen Ryan, Jennifer Montague (4th place in category), Tobias Lehnhoff and Orla O’Rourke with not one buy two podium placings – 1st place in category and 3rd place overall. Fantastic!

Sat. 3rd Aug: Pauline Hannafin was back in familiar territory as our Kerry lass took part in the Dingle Half Marathon.

Traversing along the Wild Atlantic Way across the Dingle Peninsula, Slea Head, looking down onto the Blasket Islands as they rise out of ocean, with steep cliffs on one side of her and the Atlantic on the other and completing the 13.1 mile course in the sleepy village of Dunquin, Pauline really knows how to pick those scenic routes.
Great running, Pauline.

Sat. 3rd Aug: Here’s a mouthful for you – The Lost Sheep Triathlon Kenmare 2016.

Will Dunne, donning his Ballymore Cobh A.C. singlet, took part in this not for the faint hearted Half Ironman event.

What does this consist of, we hear you ask.
1.9 km swim.
83 km bike ride.
21 km run. (Half Marathon).

Swimming almost 2 km through Kenmare Bay, cycling around the Ring of Beara Peninsula, including the Healy and Caha Passes and running his half marathon alongside the River Sheen over considerably hilly terrain, Will performed outstandingly.

Maith an buachaill, young Dunne.

And not forgetting club members Lynne Doherty and Tom O’Riordan who made the journey down to Kenmare to offer their support to Will at several locations along the route.

Sat. 3rd Aug: Across the province of Munster in the great county of Waterford, Stephen Ryan participated in the Cill Barra 6k Road Race.

Held in the somewhat less glamorous surroundings of the city’s Ballybeg housing estate, proceeds of this event were evenly divided between Ballybeg Community Centre and Waterford Marina Search & Rescue.

Stephen, in his first 6k race, ran superbly as he finished 4th in his category, averaging 6:44 minute miles with a 24:56 finish time.

It’s great to see our club athletes taking part in so many events these days.
