Congratulations to Dara Diggin, who becomes the first winner of Cobh’s Young Sports Star of The Month Award, sponsored by Train With Trevor.
The January recipient has risen to international prominence with selection for the u15 Irish Basketball Development Squad, after progressing through the ranks of Cobh Basketball Club’s underage system.
After recently attending a mid-term training camp staged in Dublin, Dara and her team-mates will travel to Scotland next, where three test games are to be staged over the Easter period in preparation for next years European Championships.
Still only 13, Dara continues to participate in Camogie, Gaelic Football and Hockey, while also having partaken in Athletics and Tennis up until recently.
Benefitting from such multi-sport participation across a wide range of local clubs, Dara’s success is something that all of Cobh can be proud of, with special mention to her coaches at Cobh Basketball Club, namely Cathy Duggan, Jennifer Hannigan, Dom Foster, Chloe McCarthy, Niamh Jones and Shane Brennan.
Well done to again to Dara, her coaches and all involved with the continued growth of basketball around Cobh.
