An Taoiseach Micheál Martin officially launched a powerful new promotional film, “Cobh – Discover the Secret”, by Johanna Murphy & Sons, at a special event hosted in the Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh on Saturday, 21st of June 2025. The short film, spearheaded by leading local auctioneer Johanna Murphy, is a sweeping cinematic tribute to the people, places, and pride of Cobh and represents a groundbreaking investment by a local, independent auctioneer in promoting their hometown on a national stage.
The event, held in the historic waterfront arts venue, brought together community leaders, business owners, and supporters to celebrate a project that many described as “transformational” for the town.
Speaking at the launch, An Taoiseach Micheál Martin praised the initiative: “This is a remarkable and heartfelt tribute to a community that continues to grow stronger through vision and collaboration. Johanna’s film is a powerful reminder of the vibrancy, potential, and unique charm of Cobh, a town that represents the very best of Ireland. It is truly inspiring to see a local entrepreneur invest so passionately in celebrating and promoting her hometown.”
Commissioned by Johanna Murphy, founder and director of Johanna Murphy & Sons, and produced by filmmaker Brian Glanby, the film marks a milestone in both Johanna’s professional journey and the ongoing story of Cobh’s renewal and community pride.

At the event, Johanna Murphy of Johanna Murphy & Sons said, “This video isn’t just a showcase of Cobh – it’s a testimony to our extraordinary island and a celebration of the remarkable transformation we’ve witnessed together. My mum taught me that before you can sell a home, you must sell the magic of the place itself. This film is my gift to Cobh – a beacon for those seeking their perfect life, and a warm embrace for those who carry our island in their hearts while living far from home.”
The premiere coincided with the company’s 25th anniversary, a significant milestone for Johanna, who began her real estate career under the mentorship of her mother, also present at the event. The film’s message, rooted in personal legacy and community spirit, moved many in attendance.
The launch also honoured the collaborative efforts of Cobh Tidy Towns, Cork County Council, and local leaders such as Cllr. Dominic Finn, who played pivotal roles in bringing the vision to life.
Shot across some of Cobh’s most iconic and scenic locations, “Cobh – Discover the Secret” is now set to be shared widely online and through social platforms, where it is expected to draw national and international attention to the charm and potential of the Great Island.
