Cobh GAA Notes 21st August

Sponsored 5km Walk/Run: A big thank you to those who turned out to support our sponsored walk on Saturday the 20th in aid of Cobh Community Hospital and Marymount Hospice. Please ensure that all sponsorship cards are returned as soon as possible. Results of the 5km run were: Mens: 1st Daniel Keating 20min 3sec, 2nd Aidan O’Rourke 20min 58sec, 3rd Cian Spriggs 21min 47sec. Ladies: 1st Siobhan Looney 25min 58sec, 2nd Sarah O’Keeffe 27min  5sec, 3rd Jennifer O’Keeffe 28min 8sec. Juveniles: 1st Pádí Kearney 24min 18sec,  joined 2nd place Diarmuid Kearney and Kevin Murphy 25min 20sec.

Results: U21HC Cobh 0-11 St. Catherine’s 0-14. The same old failings of not converting the many chances created came back to haunt our hurlers again in the U21 championship game. Conor McDowell, Tadhg Kelleher and David McCarthy performed well for a Cobh team which worked hard in all areas of the pitch but found yet again that without putting the scores on the board all that hard work counts for nothing.

Johnny Leahy Hurling Blitz: There will be a festival of hurling at Pairc Uí Chonaill on Saturday 27th with both the U9s and U12s entertaining visiting teams during the day. The u9 blitz runs from 11am til 1pm with the u12s starting at 2pm.

Dancing at Cobh Gaa Club: Sat  27th Joe Cooke.
