The recent Cobh Zero Waste conference with Primary & Secondary Schools Environment Committees in Cobh was the definition of inspiring!
We had such eloquent, well researched and passionate presentations from the children. They ranged from reflections on successful waste minimisation projects to recycling raps and a call on political parties to create policies addressing environmental crisis right through to steps being taken at school level to change the mindset about our individual responsibilities. We did a workshop on how long rubbish takes to break down in the sea and there was great chatter among the mixed groups.
A huge thank you to all the students and their proactive teachers who contributed. We were blown away with the depth of knowledge and presentation skills. Thank you to Niamh O’ Flynn Heritage in Schools for speaking about her experiences with wildlife and how we can make it a better world for them.
Thank you to Clean Coasts for the great education material for the schools. Thank you to Pfizer Little Island for the stunning Marine Life of Cork Harbour for each school. Thank you to Clodagh Meade Litter Warden Cork County Council for her encouragement for the children.
Thank you to all in Cobh Zero Waste for the organising – Marie & Ruth for running the conference, Cormac for his amazing IT assistance, Anna for her beautiful script on the certificate & Jacquie for delivering the stunning cookies from Seasalt Cobh.
Looking forward to seeing the results of the Seedbombs we gave to each school for wildflowers to please the pollinators. It is teamwork making where we live a better place and everyone has a part to play. Cobh Zero Waste is delighted to continue to work with schools and their environmental projects.
Please feel free to get in touch with us.
