FC Carlow 1-0 Ramblers

Pre-match this was the well-cliched six point game, whereas in reality the three points that were on offer would have leapfrogged Ramblers over their opponents and away from propping up the Group table. Alas, it did not materialise and a pointless return from our six away fixtures is a statistic that remains with only visits to Tralee and St. Pat’s upcoming at possibly correcting. Maybe the over emphasis on the fact of conceding far too many and soft goals, has deflected away somewhat from the fact that in terms of putting the ball in our opponents net, we are also lacking. At this level the good ones (chances), when they present themselves, have to be taken, in this game one such opportunity was created but not finished, whereas Carlow through the head of centre-forward, Darragh Walsh, found the breakthrough score that in the end separated the sides and Ramblers now go into a two week break before welcoming Sporting Fingal to Cobh on Saturday, August 29th
