Map Unveiling at Cobh Library – Friday November 15th at 11am

Join us at Cobh library for an unveiling event for a very special and rare Ordnance Survey Map of the town, which was donated to the library from a patron.
The map dates from 1898 and depicts the town front of Cobh and surrounding areas. It is the only copy of this map currently in existence and has been restored and conserved in recent months.
A scaled-up replica of this map will go on permanent exhibition in the library for the enjoyment of the people of Cobh. This project was supported by the Cork County Council Commemorations Committee.
Following the unveiling, at 11.30am, the library will hold a talk on the usefulness of maps in conducting local history and genealogical research which will be given by Rory Bunce, Executive Librarian, Local Studies. Both events are a must for anyone with an interest in local history.
