RESULT: Cobh Ramblers 2-1 Bray Wanderers

Without doubt, one of the better performances by Gary Hunt’s side tonight. A shabby opening to the first half with poor defending and lack of concentration in the penalty box allowed Bray to take the lead through Peter Grogan a minute and a half into the game. Ramblers picked themselves up and it wasn’t long before they hit back with a cracking right-footed strike from O’Brien-Whitmarsh in the 9th minute.
After equalising, Ramblers began to take the game to Bray, playing some neat football, opening up Bray and creating opportunities but it remained all square at the interval.
After the break Bray found themselves with an opportunity to take the lead in the 63rd minute as Shane Griffin stepped up to take a spot-kick at the Liam McMahon Stand end. Griffin took the strike well, however, the Ramblers keeper and Man Of The Match, Darragh Burke, got down well to his right side to make a superb save and keep the scores level.
It was jubilation for Ramblers and the bulk of the 850 spectators in the 66th minute when midfielder Dale Holland put them in front and on the way to a well needed three points. Bray had several chances late on but a fine performance and some great handling by the Ramblers keeper ensured that the Cobh side took the spoils. The win moves Ramblers up the table into 7th place as they now look forward with confidence to their away trip to UCD this Bank Holiday Monday
