SECAD’s ‘Time To Change’ Course

Published

on

It’s that time of year again when we make plans, set goals and consider our future.  This is especially true if you are out of work.  It’s a challenge to see unemployment in a positive light but it can provide the opportunity to explore what it is you want to do next.

SECAD will be running the second Time to Change course in Cobh Family Resource Centre starting Monday, 6th February.  The 10 week programme is FREE and is designed to enable people to achieve their potential.  It will focus on:

  • Self-esteem and personal strengths
  • Self-confidence and encouragement
  • Information on supports and entitlements
  • Creatively visualising our future
  • Creating opportunities and possibilities
  • Identifying our vision, mission and goals
  • Setting goals and creating plans for the future
  • Moving forward on our goals
  • Managing Change
  • CV preparation and Interviews

One of the participants on the last course said that taking part in the course “got me out of my old routine and made me excited about possibilities for the future”.

We will be holding an open morning in the Sirius Centre on Monday, 23rd January starting at 10.00 am where you will get an opportunity to learn more about the course and also to meet representatives from DSP, FAS, VEC, SECAD and the local agencies.  Psychologist Fergus Heffernan will give a speech entitled “Manage Your Life by Managing Your Mind” – how to tap into your mind’s power so you can enjoy your life to the fullest.

Then on Monday morning, 30th January the tutor will be in Cobh FRC to provide information about the course and to register participants.  An important part of the 10 week programme will be inputs by specialists on adult education, career development, cv preparation and social welfare advice as well as one to one support.
