Victoria Keating and Áine O’Gorman Friday, 1 December 8pm (doors: 7.45pm) Tickets: €15.00 Victoria Keating and Áine O’Gorman are musicians based in Cobh. Individually and as a duo, their songs are infused with folk styles influenced by Celtic traditions. They present an evening of original material and popular covers from various periods and genres. The Lark on the Strand Saturday, 2 December 8pm (doors: 7.45pm) Tickets: €17.50 (booking via Eventbrite) Charlie Piggott, Gerry Harrington, Peter Browne and Seosaimhín Ní Bheaglaoich are all recognised for their own careers, and came together to form The Lark on the Strand in 2000. They have been woven into the fabric of traditional Irish music, performing a mix of Celtic-inspired styles. They present a selection of songs from a concert recorded in 2000, since forgotten and recently revisited, along with firm favourites from over the years. The Burma with support act Sarah Hickey Friday, 8 December 8pm (doors: 7.45pm) Tickets: €17.50 (booking via Eventbrite) The Burma is a band based in Cork City. The three-piece comprises Tony O’Donovan, Peter Piggott – both from Cobh – and Cian Doherty. They are named after the Burma steps in Cobh. They accredit their sound to influences of indie scenes in the United States and the United Kingdom from the 1980s to the early 2000s. They present their newest album Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities (unplugged), noted for its Corkonian psychedelia, with support from Sarah Hickey. Lewis Barfoot and Band Saturday, 9 December 8pm (doors: 7.45pm) Tickets: €15.00 (booking via Eventbrite) Lewis Barfoot is a musician based in County Cork. She blends ethereal, evocative vocals with original compositions and reinventions of traditional songs. Lewis presents her new album, HOME, partly written while in residency at SIRIUS. HOME welcomes rivulets of jazz and a beautiful rhythm section to her folk palette, and her voice reaches new depths of beauty, enveloping listeners in a timeless and enchanting atmosphere. Trio Friday, 15 December Saturday, 16 December 8pm (doors: 7.45pm) Tickets: €15.00 (booking via Eventbrite) Caroline Fraher, John Daly and Dominic Finn are musicians based in Cobh and the wider County Cork, known for their multiple independent musical outputs. Together, they present an evening of Christmas classics and popular songs, performing well-known hits from different periods and genres. |
