Springfield Ramblers U15s launch fundraiser for international football adventure

€1,000 prize up for grabs as Cow Plop Fundraiser raises funds for the team’s trip to the Costa Daurada Cup in Spain

Springfield Ramblers Under 15 Boys are hoping the local community will get behind a rather unusual fundraiser as they prepare for an exciting opportunity to represent their club at an international youth football tournament in Spain.

The team has launched its Cow Plop Fundraiser, with all proceeds going towards the costs of travelling to the Costa Daurada Cup in Salou, where the young Cork footballers will have the opportunity to compete against teams from Ireland and overseas.

And while football is normally all about what happens on the pitch, this fundraiser will see everyone keeping a very close eye on what happens on the field!

A total of 600 squares are available to purchase for €10 each, with a fantastic €1,000 cash prize for the lucky person whose square receives the all-important visit from the fundraiser’s four-legged star.

The concept is simple: supporters purchase a numbered square before the cow is released onto the designated grid. Wherever she decides to leave her mark determines the winner of the €1,000 prize.

As the club puts it:

“Secure a square,
The cow roams free,
If she poops in it,
The prize is for thee!”

The fundraiser will take place on Sunday, 27 September, with sales closing on Friday, 25 September, or earlier if all 600 squares are sold.

The initiative will help the Springfield Ramblers Under 15 Boys make the journey to Salou for the Costa Duarada Cup, giving the players an opportunity to experience international tournament football, compete against new opposition and create memories together as a team.

The club is encouraging families, friends, supporters, local businesses and the wider community to get involved by purchasing a square and helping the boys on their way to Spain.

With a €1,000 prize on offer, there is plenty at stake; although on this occasion, no footballing ability whatsoever is required. Just a little bit of luck and one very cooperative cow!

Squares cost €10 each. To purchase a square, Revolut Brian on 086 229 2365, including your name and phone number. Your allocated square number will then be sent to you via WhatsApp.
