World Green Building 2024 is coming to Cobh – 10th of September

From 9th to 13th September, the Irish Green Building Council is organising a series of events across Ireland to celebrate World Green Building Week 2024. The theme this year is “Building the Transition”, and the objective of the week is to raise awareness about concrete actions that can be implemented in the built environment to tackle carbon emissions and enhance biodiversity.

Events include in-person presentations and tours of buildings that have achieved green certifications, as well as a visit to Cobh Town Centre.

Programme highlights:

  • Tour of Cobh Town Centre & Cork City Council’s Urban Design Plan: discovering efforts to create beautiful, inclusive, and sustainable public spaces through nature-based solutions and extensive urban greening.
  • Tour of 25 North Wall Quay, Dublin: Exploring Iput‘s first net-zero carbon office development and showcasing how they have retained and reused existing materials to reduce carbon emissions and waste.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Roundtable on Whole Life Carbon: a collaborative discussion bringing together various professions and construction professional bodies to explore the benefits of working together to reduce carbon emissions in construction and the built environment
