Fota Arboretum and Gardens OPW Team awarded ‘Green Flag’

The OPW team at Fota Arboretum and Gardens, raising the Green Flag which they received in recent weeks. They are one of only two public parks/gardens in County Cork to have been awarded a Green Flag in 2019.
The Green Flag Award for Parks Scheme is an international standard for well managed public parks and green spaces. This year a record 60 Irish Parks and Gardens from across the Republic of Ireland received a
The Green Flag Award is operated within the Republic of Ireland by An Taisce Environmental Education Unit and is an international benchmark standard for well managed and sustainable public parks and gardens.
Fota Arboretum and Gardens is one of only two public parks and gardens with a Green Flag in County Cork, the other being Garinish Island.
The award is a great achievement for the team at Fota.’
During Heritage Week the OPW staff are providing a free guided tour of the grounds on the 20th, 21st and 22nd August @ 2pm. No booking required. Meet at the flag poles in front of Fota House.
