Sunday, 31st of July saw Rushbrooke Rowing Club host this year’s County Finals in Cuskinny Bay, Cobh, that saw Clubs from East and West Cork battle it out for honours. In perfect conditions, rowers from U12 to Masters raced in what is the largest Coastal Rowing event in the country, outside of the All Ireland Championships. Rushbrooke Rowing Club had a tally of 11 crew medals with our U21 Ladies and Masters Ladies coming home with the title of County Champions. Passage West Rowing club won the title of ‘Club of the Day’
The spirit and camaraderie amongst the CRA clubs and also between East and West clubs was excellent to see and with some fantastic races, it bodes well for the All Ireland’s which are being held in Ballyshannon, Donegal from the 12th – 14thAugust.
A Raffle was held on the day with all proceeds going to the Marymount Hospice where we raised just over €1000 and this money will be collated with monies raised from the Round the Island Row in September. A big thank you to all who bought tickets for this very worthy cause.
Rushbrooke Rowing Club would like to thank our main event sponsor, Independent Irish Health Foods Ltd for their support. We would also like to thank all other event sponsors who helped make the County Final’s a success.
A special thank you to Mrs. Ronan for allowing us to use the beautiful Cuskinny Bay for the last 25 years. Thank you also to Peter O’Connell and Victor O’Flynn for allowing us to use their grounds for parking on the day.
