Ballincollig 2 Springfield Ramblers 4
Springfield Ramblers produced their best performance of the season with a well-deserved victory. With Colin and Ryan dominating midfield this allowed Luka and Adam L to create chances but some good defence work by Ballincollig saw the home team hold out and snatch the lead against the run of play. Springfield Ramblers continued to dominate the first half and Luke was unlucky not to level before half time.

Continuing to dominate Danny equalised with a stunning 20 yard shot to level the game. When the home team attacked Cormac in goal was equal to the task with some excellent saves. Springfield Ramblers had to come from behind again with an excellent finish from Adam L, this goal was set up when man of the match Jamie intercepted a ball and released Adam to score. With Joe and Jae assisting Jamie the three J’s kept the home team scoreless for the rest of the game. Danny scored his second from a Colin pass and Dave scored the fourth when he finished a cross from Ryan.
Best on the day were Danny, Colin, Luka, Joe and Man of the Match Jamie.

Kilreen Celtic 2 v Springfield Ramblers 0
The mighty Rams were on the road for their first game of the New Year at the Kilreen Celtic.
Goal defender Alex ‘Capn’ Kirk was awesome in protecting the end zone, while defensive line backers Cian ‘Sturridge’ Cotter, Jake ‘Courtois’ Kennedy, Conor ‘Khedira’ Kidney and Daniel ‘Agger’ O’Sullivan blitzed the offensive line of their opponents. Quarter backs Sam ‘Nasri’ Kennedy, Dion ‘Di Maria’ Griffin and Charlie ‘CR7’ O’Regan gained season’s best yardage for the team. And offensive runners Eoin ‘Keano’ Curry, Cian ‘Januzaj’ Tobin and Jake ‘Suarez’ Sawani used shock and awe manoeuvres in attack.

Tough competitors Josh Griffin….iesta and Ben’ando Torres’ Kennedy were introduced at the start of the third quarter and it was great to see the guys exercise all the plays that were practiced on the training pitch. Unfortunately, the Celtics found our goal bag early in the contest, but apart from that it was a great spectacle, with the boys showing plenty of razzmatazz and chutzpah.
There were some awesome performances again today but the Sorrentos sponsored man of the match was ‘Nasri’ Kennedy and he received his Tiki Taco fries from captain fantastic ‘Courtois’ Kennedy.
AND A SPECIAL THANKS TO SORRENTOS WHO ARE NOW ACTUALLY REWARDING OUR MAN OF THE MATCH FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON.

Corinthian Boys 3 v Springfield Ramblers 1
As the Christmas holidays came to an end it was off to Corinthians for only our second game in 11 weeks. The first half was and even affair with Corinthians starting slightly the stronger and after some good play broke away for the first goal after 5mins. After that Springfield started to get the upper hand and played some good football down the right wing to get a deserved equaliser when Sean Butler struck the ball well from the edge of the area to beat the keeper. The game continued to be even with few chances from other side but as half time beckoned Corinthians broke away to score a second.

In the second half Corinthians again started the better and scored a third with a fine volley. Springfield to their credit did not let the heads go down and were unlucky when an Alex O’Mahoney header was cleared off the line. With the bench emptied Springfield continued to apply the pressure while Shane ‘the Rock’ Kelsal thwarted any breaks by Corinthians however could not get a second.

The complete squad of 16 deserve credit for the way they played and never gave up. Excellent performances on the day by Josh Kelly, Sean Butler and Alex O’Mahoney and Man of the Match Shane Kelsal.
