Cobh U15 Camogie continued their good form with an away victory over Erins Own in Caherlag on Friday 1st August in the Imokilly Summer League. Cobh took control from the start with a point from a free by Aoife O Connor quickly followed by 2 goals from the same player. Cobh continued to play well and after a good move involving Laura Stafford, Chloe Walsh and Jen McCarthy, Ashling Bardsley hit an unstoppable shot to the Erins Own net which she quickly followed with another goal. Cobh’s half back line of Sophie & Kate Maher ably assisted by Ellen Stafford were defending well and prevented Erins Own from creating too many chances Further back Clodagh Tibbits in goal, Ellen Meaney, Tara Looney and Ashling Farrell kept a tight rein on the Erins Own forwards.
Cobh continued their good form in the second half but found the Erins Own defence had settled into the game and made scoring difficult.Cobh continued to move the ball well and with Orna McCarthy and Chloe Thompson creating chances further scores followed from Laura Stafford, Jen Mccarthy. and Orla Damery. With Chloe Cashman playing well in midfield and Ellie O Sullivan coming more into the game at half back cobh ran out comfortable winners. Erins Own playing in this league for the first time showed great determination and will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
