Inspired by the bustling streets, arts, vibrancy and culture of the city of Cork, The Kingsley, the deluxe 4-star hotel on the banks of the River Lee has launched their much anticipated Artist in Residence programme.
The brainchild of General Manager of the hotel, Fergal Harte, the programme was created in collaboration with The Gallery Kinsale with a view to enhance the experience of guests who visit Fairbanks Restaurant. Launching the programme on April 3rd to an audience of art enthusiasts, media and local politicians, the hotel announced Vincent Devine as The Kingsley’s first artist to feature in the programme, having unveiled seven of Devine’s fantastic artworks, including a piece which plays homage to Cork City and Shangai’s twinning.
Hailing from Co. Offaly, Devine began his career in 2008, painting independently while studying for his Honours Degree. Throughout his career, he gradually began to explore a new way of painting, continuing to strongly feature subconscious undertones and an increasingly fluctuating style. Highly regarded among many A-listers like Will.I.Am, Alanis Morisette and J.K. Rowling, and having had work commissioned by Tyra Banks, Roisin Murphy and Iggy Azalea, The Kingsley are delighted to have Devine on board as the first artist to feature in the Artist in Residence programme.
Speaking at the launch, Harte mentioned, “The entire team at The Kingsley are extremely proud to play a part in the launch of the Artist in Residence programme and we are delighted to collaborate with The Gallery to continue to support the work of Irish artists. The city of Cork plays such a strong role in supporting Ireland’s art and cultural heritage, and we hope to add to the art scene in the city with the launch of this programme here at The Kingsley.”
The artwork of Vincent Devine can be viewed in Fairbanks Restaurant at The Kingsley. For more information on the programme or to view the pieces, visit www.thekingsley.ie or call +353 (0)21 4800500
