Cork East Labour TD Seán Sherlock and Cobh Cllr Cathal Rasmussen have demanded the Minister for Communications issue a statement on the future of the Cobh An Post Sorting Office.
Said Deputy Sherlock: “It is not good enough, with everything that has gone on previously with An Post Sorting Office closures, that the people of Cobh are now subject to Rumour and counter rumour on the future of their sorting office on the Great Island.”
“I have submitted parliamentary questions to Minister that I expect to be answered once the Dáil convenes next week. It is vital this sorting office is retained for Cobh.”
Said Cllr Rasmussen :“Centralisation may have been on the agenda pre Covid but to expect residents in Cobh to travel to Little Island with the rest of the Northside of Cork city and county to collect packages is a concerning move. I raised this with Deputy Sherlock a number of weeks ago and we have been working to ascertain what exactly is happening. The Minister must respond fully to these questions and provide clarity on the matter for the people of Cobh.”
