Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North Central, Pádraig O’Sullivan has called for a hybrid approach for this year’s Leaving Certificate examinations, so that students get the option of a written exam and accredited grades.
Deputy O’Sullivan commented, “I believe giving students the option in this circumstance is the fairest and best approach to take. I have been in contact with many students, teachers, and parents about this issue.
“The unpredictability and lack of certainty is negatively impacting students whose school lives have been severely disrupted by the pandemic over the past two years, especially with the current Covid-related absences among teachers and students.”
The Cork North Central TD added: “Offering students a choice in this situation will help take some of the worry and concern out of their preparations over the next number of months. They deserve our understanding and flexibility given everything they have gone through.”
