The Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir presents ‘A Songful Summer Evening’ – an end of season choral celebration at Cobh Heritage Centre on Fri. 16th June 2023.
As is true for all choirs, the best way to celebrate is in song! With the choral season drawing to a close for the summer, the Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir wanted to bring their brand of sunshine to a wider audience and have organised a FREE concert at Cobh Heritage Centre on Friday 16th June 2023 at 7pm.
This concert will celebrate the joy of communal singing, with songs that echo the Gospel tradition, but also some crossover from mainstream music, imbuing those songs with that unmistakable power of the Gospel singing style. Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir have long been known for the high energy performances and promise to bring plenty of that chutzpah to this concert!
Joining the choir on the night will be very special guests, the Commodore Male Voice Choir and soloist Carlene Lyndsey. The Commodore Male Voice Choir are a highly regarded choral outfit of 20 or so members, who regularly take part in the Cork Choral Festival and who’s brand of music tips on many genres, including traditional Irish, Americana and crooner classics.
Carlene Lyndsey is well known to many as the accomplished accompanist to the Carrigtwohill and White Horse Gospel Choirs. A trained soprano, she has wowed audiences around the country on the wedding and event circuit. She has curated a magical solo set for this concert, which will open the evening’s entertainment.
On the night, there will be a collection for Cobh Community Hospital and along with this, a raffle with some excellent spot prizes, with all proceeds again going to the hospital. A special thanks must be extended to the entire team at Cobh Heritage Centre for being such generous hosts, offering their space freely to the choir on this special occasion. This is a ticket free event – seating allocated on a first come, first seated basis!
