Soccer Blitz ‘Thank You’ – Garda McCarthy

Pictured recently at Cobh Garda Station are Wim Van Wijnen, Garda Eric McCarthy and Inspector Eddie Golden with the winning Captains and Star Players of the Cobh Garda District Soccer Blitz tournament. Garda Eric McCarthy, speaking on behalf of the Cobh Garda expressed his joy at the huge numbers that attended the event. In total, 360 local children took part in the event played at the Tech field, which was kindly opened up for use by principal Frank Donovan.Garda McCarthy wished to thank very much for their kindness and the School ground staff that had the ground in perfect condition for the event..
Garda McCarthy went on to express his gratitude to the referees and all others that helped out because without their assistance the event would not have been possible. Special thanks also went to Davin O’Neill of Cork City, who had no hesitation in giving up his time to meet participants and later present winners with their medals and trophies.
In closing, Garda McCarthy expressed his delight at the perfect weather conditions throughout the event as this no doubt brought out the crowds to watch the games. He said it was a joy to see so many parents attending to watc their children been involved in sport. Thanks also went to the superb committee involved and the goal now is to make the 2011 event even bigger and better.
