A very busy weekend for Cobh Tidy Towns!

Published

on

On Saturday morning Tidy Towns volunteers continued to wash the railings at the Promenade. Many thanks to Gillen Joyce from The Titanic Experience for the coffee!

It’s great to see that the Town Council have cleaned out  the flower beds in the Promenade and that they now look respectable. It’s also good to see the flower bed on the approach to Cobh extended to include the Welcome to Cobh Heritage Sign.

The cordylines along the Five foot way were pruned in preparation for Spring growth.

The Rock was cleaned of broken glass, stone and dirt. We ask any members of the public that see anti-social behaviour anywhere in the town to contact the Gardai immediately on 021 4908530 and ask to have your call logged. Cobh Tidy Towns have been asked to do this by Inspector Edmund Golden.

Joanne and Liz have begun the painting of the decorative poles in the Promenade and they look beautiful.

The top of Ticknock was picked of litter and the spraying of weeds around the town has started again.

Hundreds of small flags were unfurled in preparation for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Volunteers are sought to help with the Fundraising Bag Pack for the Parade in Garvey’s Super Valu on 8th and 9th March. Please contact Ursula Duffy on 085 1668271 if you can do 2 hours at any time during those 2 days.

The O’Hanlon Butchers Meat Car has been fully repainted by Paddy Keenan but unfortunately our intention of putting this on display on a public footpath in the Town Centre complete with a horse has been “shot down” by the authorities. We would welcome any suggestions where this piece of Cobh’s Commercial History can be displayed and become a tourist attraction, while remaining safe? Meet us on Monday morning at 11am at the Ballynoe Inn or at 10am on Saturday mornings at the playground on the Five Foot Way.
