An Untitled Poem by Ashley-Marie Hogan

The country is in a state of disbelief,
We’ve got to hold onto that second sheet.
That second sheet you ask, confused!
Well hold onto your hat and be amused,
As I reiterate this country’s faults,
Well actually No, ‘It’s Nobody’s fault!’
The book (buck) has passed so many times,
“It must be worn out by now” this Party whined.

We want to put things right you know,
So give us a chance, go on, give us a go.

Fiánna Fáil in case you’ve forgotten,
Is trying their best so don’t be rotten.
“Oh we’re very sorry that was us,
we don’t expect a bualadh bos.”

Our country as we know it has gone,
Our fate is lost, they took it from….
The Irish people we stand tall,
But we haven’t won it all.
Some people of Ireland are still so scared
Of how and where they’ll lay bare….
What’s next for us? Please tell us now,
As our Country is not standing proud.

People are suffering God knows we are,
What are you doing?  Where you are?
Are you suffering like Joe Soap and I,
Can you live like us? Can you try?

It’s a different story for ye at the top,
But come hell or high water it’s got to stop!

People of Ireland always try their best,
So give us a break, give us a rest.
We don’t deserve to be fleeced anymore,
If you take from me once again, you’ll have to peel me off the floor.

For love nor money can we give at this moment,
as for the second sheet of expenses
you’re gonna have to come to your senses.
