The racing season is getting into gear and for the second Sunday running the clubs juvenile and adult sections were well represented on the circuit, with Cloyne playing host to a 4km event which placed a focus on each participants speed endurance.
Two of our junior athletes led the charge in glorious fashion with Maggie Sillett (17.56) leading home the overall girls field, while Thomas Krawczyk (14.56) was the first home amongst the boys entries.
Maggie and Thomas, like all our underage members, can look forward to a bright future and yesterday’s efforts showcased the amount of potential amongst this group of precocious youngsters.
Paudie Kearney (16.00) and Gustaw Tuszynski (18.18) both capped off a brilliant day for the clubs juveniles with some solid performances of their own.
Backing up an encouraging season opening run last weekend was Shane Meyler(15.22) who was the first of our adult athletes to cross the line yesterday.
Tom O’Riordan (16.26), who is about to begin a training schedule for the Cork City Marathon, proved his effectiveness over the shorter distances also with a creditable run here.
Laura Forrest (24.07) got her season underway with a run that provides a solid footing to move forward from while Mary Jones (28.44) continued her busy schedule with another very encouraging showing.
Theresa O’Brien (27.23) made her racing bow in the Black and Amber yesterday. Having sharpened up with her first hill session on Saturday morning, Theresa is enjoying great progress after graduating from our first Fit4Life program.
For Theresa, and like so many of our members, momentum is gathering.
Onwards and Upwards.
