Ballymore Cobh AC juveniles acquitted themselves very well over two weekends in February at the Munster Indoor Championships in Nenagh, County Tipperary.

Ria Coakley and Timmy Wilk competed in the U9 to U12 competition and both did very well. Timmy reached the finals in both the long jump and 60m dash.

On the second weekend we had a group of athletes that gained valuable experience competing against the cream of Munster.

For most it was their first time competing in an indoor competition. Well done to all who took part – Maggie Sillett in 800m, Vanessa Frawley in 60m hurdles, long jump and high jump, Harry McDwyer 800m, Jack Worrall + Adam Hastings both 60m and 800m, Pau Mora + Mark O’Rourke both 60m and 800m , Marc Jones in 60m and 200m and finally, Tomasz Krawczyk in the u18 800m and 1500m.

Tomasz came away with the gold medal in both events and as Munster Indoor Champion now progresses to the National Indoor Championships in Athlone on March 12th and 13th for which we wish him the very best of luck.

Next up on the agenda for our juveniles is the outdoor track and field season which begins with the East Cork Championship Day 1 in Youghal on April 10th. With the season really only getting underway over the next few weeks, anyone interested in joining our juvenile section is encouraged to come along to our training sessions to see what it’s all about.

We are holding a couple of fundraisers over the next few weeks and all monies raised are going towards improving facilities for our youngsters.
