The Ballycotton 5mile Road Race Series concluded last month with eight of our athletes collecting commemorative plaques to mark their achievement of completing each of the four races. Well done to Harry Gibbs, Stephen Ryan, Orla O’Rourke (1st Place in Age Category over Series), Sinead Daly, Ruth Phelan, Sarah Aherne, Anne Burke and Heike von Heyne on their sustained efforts throughout the summer months.

Next up for our adult members was a visit to Clonakilty for a 10miler which saw Stephen Ryan (1:15:32) lead home the Ballymore Cobh runners with Claire Holland (1:35:28) being the first club lady home with a decent debut performance over the distance.

Catherine Britton (32.02) was the first female club runner over the line when a big crowd lined up for the Glounthane 4mile a few days later. Eilish Gormley (36:58) and Anne Mckeown (36:59) also ran well on an evening which saw Stephen Ryan (27.12) continue his preparation for the upcoming Berlin Marathon.

Elsewehere, Heike von Heyne (2:26:21), Pauline Hannafin (1.59.32) and Terry Murphy (1:50:06) each completed the recent half marathon staged around the stunningly picturesque Dingle peninsula.

In the junior ranks, Maggie Sillett got her season off to an impressive start when she took on her elders in the u14 West Limerick AC Open Cross Country over 3k and finished in second place with a great run.
