See You in Cobh, Cobh Tourism and Cobh Tidy Towns Committee launched their exciting plans for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day events in Cobh at a public meeting in the Great Island Community Centre last week. The three organisations are united in their efforts for the betterment of Cobh – Great Island and the highlight of this year’s programme will be the 2010 Cobh St. Patrick’s Day Parade which will take place on Wednesday March 17th starting at The Bench @ 3.30 pm. This year’s theme is “Cobh – Turning The Tide” and aims to encourage everyone to face the future with optimism.
Last year, to encourage maximum participation in the Parade there was no entry fee for participants and no contributions were sought from the business community. The Parade was the best seen in Cobh for many years! This year the organisers hope to raise sufficient funds through a bag-packing fundraiser on Friday February 26th and Saturday February 27th in Garvey’s Supervalu. Your support will be greatly appreciated and it will help to ensure a Parade that everyone in Cobh and The Great Island can be proud of.
To get everyone in the mood for our National Holiday, a St. Patrick’s Eve Concert will be held in the new Great Island Community Centre from 8pm to 10.30pm on Tuesday March 16th. Tickets costing just €10 are available from the Commodore Hotel and from Ursula Duffy on 4813581.
Entry forms for the Parade are available to download from www.seeyouincobh.com.
