Press Release – 600 trained this year in Suicide Intervention & Prevention Skills by Voluntary Group

You may or may not heard of a small voluntary group based in Cobh, Co. Cork that provide free training programmes to the Community in Suicide Intervention and Prevention.  The group is called Breaking The Silence, who are essentially a group of people connected by a common cause; to equip members of the public with the Suicide Intervention skills they need to protect people at risk of Suicide.  To date this year this voluntary group has trained approx. 600 people in these skills and attendees at these courses came from all over Cork City and County and from all backgrounds.  With people under more pressure now more than ever we ask everybody to be more Suicide Alert and consider the possibility of attending one of these free courses to give you the skills you need to deal with a person at risk.  Our trainers are highly skilled and feedback from courses is very positive.

Breaking The Silence is a Cobh based voluntary group that works to help create a Suicide Safer Community by connecting the person at risk of Suicide with life preserving resources. We are an entirely voluntary group and without the support of the Community we could not do the work that we do.  For information on upcoming courses with Breaking The Silence please email breakingthesilencobh@gmail.com and to keep up to date with group activities you can find us on facebook by searching for ‘Breaking The Silence Cobh’.
