Hi Readers,

It’s Back to School time and its all about Ben 10 lunchboxes, High School Musical schoolbags, Twilight folders and absolutely anything to do with Toy Story! For those with older teenagers the recent focus will have been largely dominated by the recent Leaving Cert Results and rightly so we all need support at such an important time.  However when you do manage to get five minutes to yourself the following is a brief summary of the Irish recruitment activity during the month of August………..

August 2010 saw the amount of Irish people on the live register hit a record high since the 1980’s however it wasn’t all doom and gloom with the following positives and opportunities to take from the month which incidentally was always a slower month in recruitment even in our Celtic Tiger days:

Calling all health professionals! August saw the confirmation that the 2010 World Health Expo will take place from the 5th – 7th November 2010 at the Mallow GAA Complex and its objective is to provide attendees with information on products and services vital to achieving good health and quality of life.   This massive expo is inviting companies and individuals in the health and wellness sector to become exhibitors.  For an exhibitors information pack, contact Liz Foley, Marketing Manager on 022-50757 and for more information visit www.worldofhealth.ie

Call Management, a next generation call centre announced 25 new jobs which were created as a result of new contracts worth €600,000 to the company.  Based at the Atrium Blackpool Business Centre, Call Management will process over 800,000 inbound and 225,000 outbound calls this year.

Cork’s popular Cork Independent Newspaper were advertising for an Advertising Sales Executive; what an opportunity to join their dynamic sales team! Application deadline was the 13th of August however in the event you wish to make a late application the contact email provided was fhanley@corkindependent.com

Gills, the very popular Fast Food outlet at Cobh’s Top of the Hill announced that they are recruiting for new staff.  To be considered for one of these positions drop in your CV to the Top of the Hill shop.

Mallow Town Council confirmed plans to meet with IKEA, the Swedish furniture giant to hopefully bring them to the town which will generate strong employment for the area.

Optilase, Ireland’s No. 1 Laser Eye Clinic opened their doors at Cork’s trendiest new city area Opera Lane.  Optilase can be contacted on 1890 301 302 should you wish to contact them about potential employment opportunities.

Southern Tyres opened a new branch of their business in Blackpool and the business can be contacted on 021 – 4397961 or email southerntyres@gmail.com

Supermacs at Cobh’s Casement Square – a large advertisement was placed in Cork’s own Evening Echo advertising that Supermacs are opening at Cobh’s Casement Square and are recruiting for a number of positions from junior roles to Supervisory & Management.  Contact Supermacs for further details.

Finally if you have recently completed your Leaving Cert and need support in terms of deciding what to do next we would be delighted to help you.  It is a very important time that is for certain but it is essential to remember that we really do live in a world today with an abundance of opportunity when it comes to Education.  Our Education System is very advanced and it does cater for all levels, all backgrounds, all preferences – you might not have secured your ideal choice but that is not to say that aren’t options, other ways of gaining future entry and other avenues for you to consider.  Stay calm and stay positive and as I said if we can be of assistance at all don’t hesitate to get in contact, we are here to help! Here’s to a very positive September!
