Carrignafoy Community College held their Annual Awards Ceremony at the Commodore Hotel in May 2013. Awards were presented for Attendance, Homework club, Gaisce, Green schools, Faith friends and UCC Plus+, amongst others. We would like to offer our congratulations to all of the award winners. Special congratulations must go to The Phoenix Education Resources transition year group on their recent successes in the CIT Enterprise Awards and the Junior Dragons competition. We were also delighted to receive the Irish Business Against Litter Award, in addition to a green flag, in recognition of our efforts in maintaining the school grounds to the highest possible standard.

The Principal’s Awards on the night went to Patrick Bransfield and Ross Byrne, congratulations to them both. We would like to offer special congratulations to Kyle Brophy, our student of the year, who has maintained a strong commitment to his education and to our college over the past six years.

Our guest speaker on the night was a past pupil of ours, Lisa Callaghan. Lisa is currently a very successful business woman based in Co. Galway where she owns and manages a chain of Laserderm Clinics as well as an online beauty product shop. After spending some time studying and working in America, Lisa returned home in 2006 and in 2007 she took a brave step and opened the door of her first clinic. Lisa took the opportunity to encourage students to be positive in their outlook and ambitious in pursuit of their goals.

The night was a truly uplifting experience for students and staff.
