Business women from a wide range of industries operating in the East Cork area met in Cobh on Wednesday, 13th June, for a free legal seminar hosted by the Catalyst Cobh networking group.
A panel of four solicitors from the East Cork area provided legal advice to business owners and employees on topics including employment law, debt collection, rental and leasing of commercial premises, inheritance and succession planning advice for family businesses.
Sally Donegan of S Donegan & Co Solicitors highlighted the need for business owners to have a plan for the future “You should have a plan in place to ensure that someone has been appointed to look after your business on a day to day basis and who should look after the financial side of your business”, she said “it is essential that any person running a business has an adequate Will in place to cover all eventualities.”
Following this workshop group member Collette O’ Donovan delivered a presentation on positive psychology and relaxation.
An impressive display of products were available from member businesses including Cakes of Distinction, owned by award winning baker, Melissa Paisley; Barbara Hall Creations;
Mary Halligan, Horticulturist & Gardening Advisor; PIO and The Quays Bar & Restaurant who are celebrating the launch of their new smoothie and milkshake bar.
Established as part of the SECAD Catalyst initiative the event marked the beginning of the groups 2nd year. Sinead Conroy of SECAD announced that the Catalyst imitative throughout East Cork area had secured EU funding for the remainder of 2012.
