In a change with tradition, Christmas in Cobh begins on Sunday 26th November with an afternoon of Christmas Cheer followed by the switching on of the Cobh Christmas Lights.
From 2 pm Santa Claus will greet children in the Jack Doyle Suite of the Commodore Hotel, have a short chat with them and pose for photographs. Free Arts and Crafts activities, Face Painting and storytelling will also keep children entertained in the Commodore Hotel.
From 4.15 pm complimentary Hot Chocolate will be available for children from Truly Scrumptious in The Promenade. This is generously sponsored by the AIB Cobh branch and vouchers for Hot Chocolate will be available during the activities in the Commodore Hotel.
The children’s torch lit procession has become a huge favourite in the build up to the switching on of the Christmas Lights. This year the parade will leave from Cobh Heritage Centre at 4.45 pm and will travel along the town to the Christmas tree where the lights will be switched on by one lucky child. This child will be the winner of an art competition organised by Cobh and Harbour Chamber and See You in Cobh.
The whole afternoon’s activities are a coming together of community and businesses to show Cobh at its best. The Christmas Lights are erected by Cobh and Harbour Chamber with support from the Cobh Municipal District. This is the 10th year that See You in Cobh are organising a Christmas in Cobh Event to coincide with the switching on of the Cobh Christmas Lights.
Please come along and be a part of this fantastic festive Community event in the centre of Cobh.
