Christmas Lights In Town Centre – Photo Cobh Edition

Christmas in Cobh, which is an initiative of See You in Cobh started on 1st December when Santa claus arrived in a parade of vintage vehicles and the day ended with a torch lit parade and the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights. Cobh Heritage Centre proved to be an ideal venue for Santa’s grotto. It was a marathon day, with Santa Claus taking his seat in his grotto at 12.30 and meeting almost 200 children without a break until 6.30 pm when the last child was seen. A big thank you to Gillian for staying on long after closing time to allow children in the queue to see Santa. Many thanks must go to the students from Colaiste Muire who assisted, Cobh Classic Car club, St. Colman’s Pipe Band, Sinead Sheppard’s Carol singers, Cobh Confraternity Band, Cobh Animation team and all the children who walked in the torchlit procession.

Elsewhere in the town ARC provided great entertainment as a part of their “Santa Paws” fundraising day, while Toddy Stafford and his crew in association with Cobh and Harbour Chamber and Cobh Town Council ensured that the Christmas Lights where ready for the switch on. The Christmas Tree at Fota was supplied by Hillside Nurseries and was erected by See You in Cobh with assistance from Fota Wildlife Park and Charlie and Terry from Cork County Council. The funds from the sale of the Titanic Mural Christmas cards will ensure that we can put one up every year, so please buy a pack or two to send to friends and relations around the world.
