Cobh Ramblers are pleased to announce that striker Cian Leonard has re-signed for the club for the 2020 First Division campaign. Leonard enters his fourth season at St Colman’s Park having joined from Cork City in 2017.
Having impressed initially at Cork Schoolboys League level, Cian joined Cork City’s U17 set-up in 2015 before moving to Cobh midway through the 2017 campaign, remaining eligible for the U19 side that season. He made his first team debut away to Wexford that year and he has since gone on to make a total of 53 senior appearances for the club.
Speaking on the announcement, Cian had this to say,
“I’m delighted to sign back again. There’s a positive buzz around the place at the moment and it feels good to meet up with the rest of the lads. It’s Stu’s first full season and everyone is backing each-other.
Looking ahead to the new season, we should be up competing with the best in the division. Last year was disappointing for us as players and for the club on that front. We’re looking to set that straight this season and push back into the top half, competing for promotion. We showed last year that we can go head-to-head with the top teams, we just need to introduce a bit of consistency into our game. That’s where we fell down last season and if we can improve on that then we are more than capable of a high finish.”
