Cobh Broadband Action Group (CBAG)Some Good News at Last

Published

on

CBAG’s last update 2 months ago related details of our presentation to Cobh Municipal District on the abysmal level of broadband service in much of Cobh.  We emphasised the difficulties being experienced by people trying to carry out business, access education and public services.  The future viability of Cobh was also addressed.  We noted that National Broadband Ireland (NBI) is the final opportunity for Cobh to catch up with the Information Age.  NBI is the Granahan McCourt project that is contracted to deliver broadband to all those areas of Cobh (the so called Intervention Areas) that are not/will not be serviced by Eir and others.  Copies of our submission are available on request

THE GOOD NEWS FROM NBI.

NBI has now started its programme of site surveys and is planning the delivery of service.  The NBI information pack is comprehensive and gives a clear outline of the work plan.  This augers well for the delivery of the broadband project.  Our latest information from NBI is that installation of High Speed Broadband will take place in the Western area of Cobh Norwood Park, Rushbrooke, Ringmeen, etc between Dec 2020 and Feb 2021.  Other areas in the Eastern area of Cobh are described as “survey pending” and hopefully that plan will issue shortly.

OUR RECOMMENDATION TO YOU

Log on to the National Broadband Project site, www.nbi.ie register interest in the project, and request updates by email from NBI.  Input your location on the site with your EirCode to see what the plan holds for you.  Continue to watch that space and interact with NBI.  Your interest in the delivery plan for you could influence the roll out to your house or business.

Email contactus@nbi.ie  and thank NBI for coming to Cobh

The Cobh Broadband Action Group is delighted to see that Cobh is at last being targeted for broadband development.  The addition of high speed broadband technology will present great opportunities for those areas of our town that have been ignored for too long.  Feel free to contact CBAG at badbroadbandcobh@gmail.com
