Cobh Camogie Club – An invitation to the girls of Cobh to join in

80 girls training every week and more wanted

The juvenile section of Cobh Camogie club was re-established three years ago. In the first year the 25-or-so girls who joined up trained over the summer and played one practice game at the end of the year. In 2009 the club entered teams at U13, U12 and U11 in the league competitions in Cork, and, with the club continuing to grow, they have extended this to include U14 and U15 teams for the 2010 season.  Although the girls are still learning the skills of the game, the teams who have played competitively this year have done well to win games against Passage and Castlelyons, while competing strongly in their other games. Another positive step for the club in 2010 is the resurrection of the adult team. The Cobh club actually won a County title at Junior level in 2002 but things went downhill afterwards as their was no juvenile section in place to supply new players to that team. Now, with a good juvenile structure in place it is hoped that the adult team (16 year olds and up) will get back on the pitch and return to the winning ways which they enjoyed not so long ago.

The juvenile girls train at the ‘Top Pitch’, of the Gaa (adjacent to the WaterTower).

U14/U12/U10  (3rd class upwards) Sat 11am – 12:30pm & Wed 5pm – 6:30pm.

Beginners (born 2001 & 2002) Sat 11:15 – 12:30pm.

The club currently has 15 coaches involved and would like to see more and more girls (born on/before 2002) playing and new players are welcome to join in throughout the year. For more information on camogie in Cobh, contact the club secretary, Lorraine, on 086 1605314 or cobhcamogie@gmail.com.
