It’s been a busy start to the new season for Cobh Camogie Club on and off the pitch. The Junior team played two challenge matches against Douglas and St Vincents with strong performances in both. Best wishes to junior player Mari Moynihan as she recuperates from her recent knee surgery.Well done to Ava Meaney who was a member of the Cork u16 team who played Waterford in February and now face Clare in the Munster plate final at the end of March. Well done also to Hannah Hurley who was a member of the Cólaiste an Phiarsaigh team who won the colleges Junior B camogie final. Finally huge congratulations to Sorcha McKeown who was crowned MISS CORK 2019. Sorcha is a member of the Junior Camogie team as well as a juvenile coach. Throughout 2018 Sorcha did trojan work fundraising for Pieta house through her challenge ’12 Peaks for Pieta’. With Sorchas love of sport especially camogie she has pledged her support for the 20×20 campaign a movement to shift Ireland Perception of women’s sport by 2020.Sorcha hopes to use her year as Miss Cork to highlight the importance of sport for physical and mental wellbeing as well as continuing her support for Pieta House. The club wishes Sorcha all the best for her year as ‘Miss Cork’- a wonderful ambassador for the Rebel County.
