COBH CARILLON TO MARK 1914 TRUCE

Largest of the bellsThis Christmas Eve, carillons around the world will ring out in commemoration of the centenary of the spontaneous truce which occurred on the Western Front when the waring factions put their weapons aside to come together and sing carols to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace.

This international event, organised by Irish author Don Mullan, Associate Chair of UNESCO’s Global Youth Programme, will be centred on the Carillon of the Irish Peace Park in Messines (Belgium). The special hour-long recital on the Cobh Carillon of St Colman’s Cathedral will commence at 4.30 and will be presented by Adrian Gebruers.
