The Cobh Community Paintathon organised by Cobh Tidy Towns Committee on Good Friday and Holy Saturday was a tremendous success. Overall 45 volunteers showed up over the two days to paint in glorious sunshine and also enjoy the magnificent views and engage in the banter of the occassion. One hundred and twenty hours of voluntary work meant that over two thirds of the outside of the railings are now painted and one third of the inside. Some volunteers came on their own, some came with friends and some came as families. Some stayed for just a short time while others stayed for the entire two days. €305 was also raised, which will be divided between the two nominated charities Cobh Community Hospital and the Public Funding for Whitepoint Playground and Skatepark campaign. Well done and thank you to all involved.
The Great Island Spring Clean will take place on Saturday 24th April and this will provide another opportunity for people to come out in force and help to finish the job. Further details from Ursula Duffy 085 1668271.
