Dont be fooled by the score . This match turned out to be a very tough wet, windy and sleety match which was held in Cobh on Monday night in the top pitch under lights. We won the toss and decided to play with a strong wind. Within about five minutes the wind had picked up more and it began to rain. At this point our forwards were kicking high and fast ball pushing their back line back and within twelve minutes we were up 1:3. Out of nowhere the wind and rain stopped and the game took on a different perspective where Lisgoold came into the game moving the ball quickly up the pitch on a number of occasions. Our back line stood up to this and only succumbed to a single goal .At half time the score was 4:7 to 1:0.
In the second half the game started as the first finished, Calm. Then by forty minutes it was a full on gale with sleet but these lads did not stop from both sides. For a full twenty minutes Lisgoold came at us. At this
point our half forward line was back to the half back line defending. Lisgoold were upping the score but on balance Cobh wanted this game more and brought about some honest and determined defending. And then just five minutes before full time the gale stopped. During this period our forwards had another purple patch which allowed our backs and midfielders to get some recovery and push up the pitch. This was where the forwards put some nice moves together and they notched up another three goals and two points .The mentors would like to thank all players for a sterling performance on the night.Well done.
