u14 Football
Our U14 footballers had a useful victory in a friendly match v Erins Own in Cobh on Thursday night. Erins Own were in the premier division last year and for much of the game played some stylish football, but our lads were sharper in front of goal, and this was to prove the difference in the end. Highlight of the match was a well taken goal by midfielder Adam O’Donovan whose well timed run, got on the end of an opportunist Cobh free-kick. Final score was Erins Own 2-11, Cobh 5-6. Next up for these lads is a league encounter with near neighbours Carrigtowhill at the end of next week.

Junior A Football
Cobh got their league campaign off to a great start with a one point victory over Shanballymore friday evening last. Both teams had to battle with the challenging weather which made the task of winning much tougher than expected. The Cobh defense played well and limited Shanballymore to scoring from set pieces rather than from play. Allen Wally and Darragh O’Keeffe put in a great shift in midfield who supplied plenty of ball into the lively Cobh forwards. Cobh who trailed Shanballymore by three points at half time dug deep to clinch victory with a well taken goal from Captain Brian Aherne at the death. Players to play well for Cobh included Luke Curran who made life very difficult for the opposing forwards and Kieran Histon who tormented the Shanballymore defenders at every chance he got. With the first win under the belt the Cobh men will aim to build on this performance and hopefully establish themselves at the higher end of the league table.
