Blustery but fine conditions awaited the U-12’s on Friday night last when they fielded to contest their respective quarter final matches in week five of the Cobh Credit Union sponsored Hurling Street Leagues. It was noticeable that the games were being played at a faster pace & with a higher intensity to the previous week with each player finding an extra step or two in their own performance. Skill & commitment was in abundance around the field as each score was to be hard earned in the quest to advance & move ever closer to the “Michael Hayes” shield.
By the end of Sunday morning, luminous sliotars would not have looked out of place as fog was to descend on the field of play for the U-9’s. Though it presented a new dimension to the game of hurling, the boys & girls coped very well with the foggy conditions and yet again provided plenty of determined & entertaining performances. Preceding the fog, the drizzle bid welcome to the U-7’s who as usual took to the field in a businesslike manner, oblivious to the conditions and focused on the challenge ahead. Three closely contested games later, as witnessed by the very audible encouragement from around the field, the job is done and the hum-drum departs until next time. Only two more weeks to the Finals, well done to everyone so far !
Reminder: Normal start times this coming Sunday, U-7’s @ 10.30am & U-9’s @ 11.30am. All teams to play two matches.
