Cobh Pirates Results W/E 14th Feb
J2 League ; Cobh Pirates (20) (10) Old Christians
The J2s now take a deserved top of the table place with this win. A very solid performance from Gary Price and tries from Liam Greaney, Alan Walley and Pete Mullen now has them in pole position before next weeks encounter away to Dunmanway. A win there would ensure a semi final home draw. Special mention to Liam Greaneys “solo run” down the wing !
MJL Div 1 Cobh Pirates (20) (18) Clonmel.
The J1s came away with the spoils against Clonmel in what was a very strong performance from the pack, in particular the front row of Tom Keavney, Dave MacCauiffe and Gavin Owens. With Martin Clifford running hard at the defense and Rob Donovan causing problems at every oppurtunity, the backs played a wide and running game. Alan Lanford had a great day in defence with his consistant work rate. With Dave MacCauliffe scoring Pirates sole try Josie Hoynes had a good day with the boot slotting over the rest. Next week has them in their final home league fixture against Kilfeacle.
