On Monday 4 volunteers spent 2 hours in the area at the cross river ferry. Paths were swept, barrels weeded, grass cut and signs cleaned. Also picked was a very large amount of litter inside the perimeter of the old Maritime fishing shed. ?On Tuesday 5th classes in Rushbrooke NS did some cleaning up in the roads around the school. One group of 8 picked up 5 bags of rubbish.Well done guys & girls. On Friday some of the pupils from Bellvue NS picked up litter with Birgit from the Green Schools and one of our Tidy Towns volunteers.Well done boys and girls, you were a pleasure to work with.
On Saturday eight volunteers were out, including two young and eager “tidytowners” who went picking litter with their mother. The painting of the bollards continued in the town centre, while three volunteers continued the powerwashing and gum removal from the pavements throughout the day. Well done to El Bistro for once again generously “feeding the troops”. The 2012 Cobh Great Island Tidy Districts competition will be launched on Wednesday 2nd May and Entry Forms may be downloaded from our Facebook page from Wednesday evening onwards. Forms will also be available in hard copy. The closing date is 1st June with judging taking place at the end of June and in early July.
